Oh, how I loathe this frequent jab from my daughter! 😅
Recently, I decided to change how I feel about my inbox. Whether its capacity is at 99% or not, the story I was telling myself about it needed an upgrade.
Spam is Litter 🚮
Spam isn’t just the stuff that clutters up our inbox.
It’s the way the entire system — ‘business as usual’ — works.
It feeds on our curiosity, our desire for the "quick fix," the "easy answer," and the constant barrage of promises to solve it all, instantly.
Spam is litter.
It’s the residue of a system centered around endless consumption.
Gaslighting and the Quick-Fix Culture 💛
And yet, here we are, often gaslit into believing we chose this.
“You opted in,” the system tells us. “You clicked. You signed up. You’re the one who wanted to know how to get everything done in the next 5 minutes.”
Ok, but I never wanted to be trapped in the quick-fix culture.
I’m a paradigm seeker — a curiosity-driven explorer. Of course I’m curious about how you supposedly get something done in an unbelievably short time.
Oh, but you used my curiosity to hock your wares, didn’t you?
No judgment… I like using curiosity too.
But, more often than not, when I sign up to satiate that curiosity, I’m disappointed.
The promises are empty. The value is superficial.
It’s designed to grow my curiosity, not truly satisfy it.
It’s business as usual: bait and switch.
Why?
Because in ‘business as usual’, profit is paramount. It has become accepted practice to completely deplete all forms of capital in our commons to convert into money and then shame people for their newly adopted poor habits as a response to those practices.
The goal of gaslighting is to exert psychological control over the victim and erode their sense of self-worth.
‘Business as usual’ creates massive self-esteem problems because it has the lowest of self-esteem. How else could any system put in place to value control and destruction over love and happy relationships feel?
The Tangled Web We’ve Woven ⭐
The system we’re trapped in?
It’s our creation.
But don’t think it’s unaware.
In a twisted way, the system is just as much a slave as the people it enslaves.
It’s a whole tangled mess.
“The system is our creation, but it is as much a prisoner of its own design as we are.”
In contrast, what if we lived in an environment where no one needed to blame others, where there was no one “at fault” but rather issues to give attention to and allow their resolution to emerge naturally?
Is this possible?
Yes.
Where do we begin?
Transmuting the Potential in Unhelpful Cycles 🌀
We begin by remembering who we really are. (i)
We reconnect with the impact we’re here to make. (O)
We relentlessly pursue alignment with our true selves (F)
And we help others do the same. (S)
It's not a linear path; it swoops, it spirals, it doubles back—but the four components are the same, always.
These four principles make up the iOFS framework—the Operating Story we install when we experience a heartware Update.
💛 What a heartware Update Does to My Relationship with My Inbox 💛
👉🏾 For one, I’d opt in less.
👉🏾 I’d unsubscribe without guilt when things hit my inbox that I didn’t want or need.
👉🏾 My inbox wouldn't be a source of shame anymore.
👉🏾 A “full” inbox would no longer be a symbol of my inability to manage the chaos.
Instead, it would be a reminder of the overconsumption of a system that feeds on low self-esteem.
👉🏾 I wouldn’t judge it. I’d simply see it for what it is—and I’d affirm its value, because sometimes that hunger is simply a call to realign with something more meaningful.
“Sometimes an overflowing inbox is just an invitation to realign with what matters most.”
💛 Breaking Free from the Cycle 💛
I won’t turn off my curiosity.
In fact, I’ll let it run wild—but I’ll opt into things that my gut says “yes!” to.
I will learn, absorb, and share knowledge—not as a means to get more clicks, but because it’s what I’m here to do.
Not as a quick fix, but to honor the curiosity that truly seeks to mature and to serve.
💛 The Shift Toward Honor 💛
A heartware Update doesn’t just change HOW we engage with the world—it changes WHY we engage with it.
When we remember, reconnect with and realign to our true selves and purpose, and help others do the same, we can exit the toxic cycle of ‘business as usual’ practices and reclaim our sovereignty.
We’re no longer gaslit into shame;
We’re free to live, learn, and lead with honor.
